The Transport Co., Ltd.’s Social and Environmental Responsibility Operation
The Transport Co., Ltd. understands the importance of operating with social responsibility as well as focusing on main business of public transportation. The Transport Co., Ltd. Has come up with the 5 years Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility Master Plan(2016-2020) which is in line with the Company’s vision “To become transportation hub with modern and efficient fleet providing quality services connecting all regions as well as being socially and environmentally responsible”. This has become the guideline for setting out the CSR which comprises of the following essential plans to show social and environmental responsibility.
In the 2016 fiscal year, The Transport Co., Ltd. has organized CSR programs under the 5 years Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility Master Plan(2016-2020) involving stakeholder engagement regardless of the social distance to promote the Company’s image in social responsibility and to boost the community’s quality of life.
“Wheelchair Happiness” Program
This is a CSR program to aid Thai people with limited mobility (disabled, elderly and other wheelchair users) so they have access to wheelchairs in their daily life. This program uses part of the profits from tickets selling to purchase wheelchairs for the underprivileged with limited mobility from all over the country.
“Love Delivery – From Mother to Child” Program
The Transport Co., Ltd. has been running the “Love Delivery – From Mother to Child” Program for two years running. With the aim to honour Her Majesty The Queen during the celebration of her 83rd birthday on 12th August 2015 and to support the Government’s breastfeeding program by allowing free delivery of frozen breast milk via the Company’s One Day One Night service which is an express, morning pick-up for evening delivery or evening pick-up for morning delivery throughout the country. The program startedin August 2015 and is still running. This program has earned The Transport Co., Ltd. the “Breastfeeding Supportive Organization” award from the Ministry of Public Health.
“Blood Donation” Program
The Transport Co., Ltd., together with Thai Red Cross andHRH Princess MahaChakriSirindhorn Medical Center, Ongkharak, organized blood donating events by inviting the staff, organizations and the general public to donate blood at Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) 4 times a year and at the Maintenance and Inspection Center (Rangsit) twice a year.
“Happy August with Mum” Program
The Transport Co., Ltd. organized the “Happy August with Mum” program to honour Her Majesty The Queen’s 84th birthday and to promote family bond by taking the staff along with their mothers to participate in social activities such as giving out lunch to underprivileged children, etc.
“The Transport Co., Ltd. – Your Dream Your Vocation” Program
This is a program to provide real working experience to students from vocational colleges by selecting students from Panjavidhya Technological College as mechanical interns at the Company’s Maintenance and Inspection Center which is a major maintenance center as well as at some private vehicle inspection garages. The students participating in the summer internship program will also receive scholarship.
“Free Standard Inspection for Cars and Motorcycles” Program
The Transport Co., Ltd. provides the public with free inspection of motorcycles, personal vehicles and personal trucks at the Maintenance and Inspection Center in Rangsit, Pathumthani. The 20 standard checklists include engine oil level and cleanliness, tire conditions, clutch and brake, etc.
“Happy Friday”Program
This program invites the Company’s employees and the surrounding community to participate in the flea market on the last Friday of every month at the ground floor of Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) and to use the profit from kiosk rental to buy wheelchairs for those with limited mobility through the“Wheelchair Happiness” program.
“Community Waste Sorting” Program
The Transport Co., Ltd.’s Maintenance and Inspection Center has organized the “Community Waste Sorting” program by turning used oil cans into waste sorting cans such as general waste, recyclable or compostable waste and give them out to communities around Pathumthani province.
“Green Procurement” Program
This is a program aim for the purchase of goods and services which have the least effects on the environment. The Transport Co., Ltd. selects products and services which are environmentally friendly such as the A4 copy papers that is part of the Thai Green Label Scheme and received Thailand Industrial Standards Mark.
