1. Public van reforms
Following the order of the Head of NCPO No. 13/2559 to reorganize public vans operating on inter-city routes within 300KM distance to relocate to the 3 Bangkok passenger terminals by the 25th October, 2016. To ensure the smooth transition, the Company cooperated with the military, police, Department of Land Transport, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to oversee the operation and provide assistance to the passengers by arranging free shuttle bus to transport passengers from Victory Monument to all 3 passenger terminals for the period of 6 months. The area within the terminals are divided into islands which the passengers were accustomed to at Victory Monument. The terminals each have the van capacity as follows;
1. Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) has the capacity of 2,046 vans.
2. Bangkok Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Pinklao) has the capacity of 1,617 vans.
3. Bangkok Bus Terminal (Ekamai) has the capacity of 542 vans.
The Company also set up 4 Regional Operation Centers to perform daily service evaluation.
The purpose of the public vans reform is to maximize the safety of public van passengers, reduce the amount of traffic around Victory Monument as well as enforce the laws related to public transportation that require all public transports to operate in and out of passenger terminals only.
2. The new buses supply
Following the Company’s Vision “To become transportation hub with modern and efficient fleet providing quality services connecting all regions as well as being socially and environmentally responsible.” The Company determines to improve service standards including the terminals, the fleet and servicing staff in order to provide passengers with convenience, highest level of safety, confidence and satisfaction.
In the year 2016, the Company has acquired a total of 100 fifteen meters long new buses to replace the old ones after the end of their lease terms. These modern buses are completed with high standard safety equipment as well as other amenities for the comfort of the passengers. The seats are designed asindividual capsules which when reclined would not disturb the comfort of the passengers in the row behind. The reclining and footrest are electronically controlled. The seats have electric massage to help the passengers relax while traveling. There are also attendant call button, personal reading light, battery charging outlet with USB port and on-board free wifi using the password imprinted on the ticket. To add to the safety measures,the GPS system which requires the drivers to swipe their driving licences on the machine to identify themselves before they can start the bus. Drivers also need to take a break after specified distance or else they are not allowed to continue the journey. In the future, TV screens will be installed at the back of every seats. The Company also has plans to add 348 more of the new buses to provide passengers with safety, comfort and satisfaction throughout all routes.
